So, some of you may remember I made gift card holders for Christmas for the nieces and nephews. Well, for those that didn't get gift cards, I made pillowcases embroidered with their names on them and put their gifts inside.

Well they were a big hit and when my SIL's sister (Lori) saw them (she was down visiting but did not come to my dad's house for the day) she wanted one. No problem I said. However, Lisa (my SIL) is really wanting to learn how to make them. I told her to pick out the fabric and I would come down to help her. Lori wants pink camo with a black cuff and gold band. It's the colors of her team. She is a breast cancer survivor and wanted the team name "Stupid Boobies" in hot pink on the cuff. Since I have the embroidery/sewing machine and Lisa doesn't, I got out the black fabric and proceeded to make the design in the computer to transfer to the machine.

Because it's larger text, I had to dig out my mega hoop. I didn't want the text to be too small on the cuff and it would have been had I used the large hoop. And although I have yet to do a design this large, it can't be that difficult, right? Piece of cake.

I put the fabric in the hoop, get it all lined up and start the machine. The machine had me adjust the hoop position twice and then it started to sew. All is going well, it's about halfway done and beeps at me to change the hoop position again. No problem. It starts sewing and I walked away to eat breakfast. I knew it only had a few mins left when I did this. While eating, I hear the beep it is done. Yippee!

I walked over to the machine and about had a heart attack! The last two letters were on top of each other. UGH! No way, it can't be. So, back to the emb software to fiddle with it. After an hour or so, I had recreated a couple of 'trial' embroideries. Put test fabric on hoop, try the design. Wrong hoop it tells me. ARRRGH. I tried the other hoop and get the same message. Decided after all of that to go back to my original design just to 'retest' it on the scrap fabric. I go thru all the same steps again and as it started sewing, the DOH moment hit me. Since this is the largest hoop I have, I needed to MOVE the sewing machine and table away from the WALL. It hit the wall the when it got to the last two letters. Instead of stupid boobies, I think it was stupid Becky. lol

Thanks for letting me vent. I feel better now. I am headed to my SIL's house to finish the pillowcase.

The O's are perfect , like boobies. I'm a lactation consultant, so I get to use technical words like that.

Doesn't it make you smile when you realize you did something like that? This week I quilted an entire quilt (FMQ) with the feed dogs up. Didn't figure it out until I went to raise them up for the binding. DUH!

At least you figured out what was wrong. Definitely a head-scratching moment! Looks good though. Post a picture of the pillowcase when it is done if you can.
