Here's my version. I'm very pleased with it. It took about eleven to twelve hours total. I used the Magic Eight method for making eight HSTs at a time. I made two Magic Eights of each color combination. I'm sure that helped save time. I used yardage instead of charm squares and trimmed the HSTs to five inches unfinished. Stitchinbee's directions were very helpful.
I have a friend who's having twin grandkids next year and I think I'll make this again. I may use just one color for the inner star and a different one for the outer star, switching colors for the second quilt.

That is the cut size of the squares - they "finish" at 1-1/2 inch.
Make your HST units "finish" at 1-1/2 inch. If you use the cut the squares on the diagonal method - cut the squares 2-3/8 (or 2-1/2 inches and trim the sewn units - my preferred way to do things)
6 x 1.5 = 12

Thank you very much. I recently made one just looking at the block .A reference sheet would have helped very much. Denise
