Thanks for the tute Jackie! I'm a little late finding it, but did. I've actually done them this way before and its lot of fun. The thing I struggle with the most is that I often try to "stand" up my feathers too much. I need to get back to practice, practice, practice! When I grow up I wanna be able to quilt like you

Thank you, Jackie: Yesterday I practiced your technique...doesn't LOOK like yours but I believe what you say that practice will help so I'll keep practicing. I have my 20 inch square "quilt" sandwich pieces covered in all the quilting patterns I've practiced on...I can tell there is SOME improvement...not alot but SOME! Thanks.

You are more than welcome. I mentioned to Melissa that all the practice doesn't have to go to waste. I'd sandwich as many squares as you want to practice on and then put them together like a rag quilt. Practice quilting only up to about 1/2" from the edges. You'll have a great utility quilt and a sample of your designs. I'd love to see one of these finished. Makes me want to try one :)

I am still practicing!!! I moved up to a big practice piece, the width of the fabric by about a yard & 1/2. This way I am getting a better feel of moving a lot of fabric around. I did tons of little squares, now the big ones are whole different ballgame!!!! I have been drawing lines to mimic borders, sashings and blocks. I think (maybe) after a couple more big practice pieces, I might try a quilt!!!
