How do you determine the size to alter for each different book? How much do you need to allow for closing the book? I hope this is clearer than mud!! I guess I'm thinking of a general formula?

I think you would measure the width of the front and back cover and the spine, and add perhaps 1/2" for closing and folding, plus the amount folded over inside the covers.

You can use anything, i just took fabric and folded it in thirds, like you were making a bias binding, sewed down the middle with decorative stitch. then stitched it to the outside of the cover. Hope this helps you. If not let me know.

I like the idea that you used a snap to keep it closed while not being read. I hate pulling a paperback out of my bag only to find it all twisted or bent up. Great tute! You did a wonderful job. Thanks for sharing.

I love how you put a magnet snap on. Is it "bulky" at all?

I used this to make a stand up cover for my Kindle. Very easy!
