I have the newer version EQ7. Will these 23 lessons above help?

skaduzy 01-29-2014 07:23 AM

I had all your lessons printed out and put them in a binder. Now what I need to do is find the time to go lesson by lesson and learn how to use this EQ7. Maybe this spring?
Thank you so much, Rhonda.

all of the lessons will work for EQ7 I showed EQ5 as it is my favorite but where EQ6 and 7 vary in any way then I show all 3 versions for that lesson. so if you see it in EQ5 then it is the same in EQ7 or if it is any diff then I show EQ7 also so you can see the diff. the only real diff is sometimes things like tools are in a diff place in the diff versions. I didn't get into alot of the bells and whistles in EQ7 as some of them I don't know how to do either. Maybe some day soon I'll pick up where I left off. I was teaching myself to do some of those things and after writing the lessons on them I promptly forgot alot of what I learned LOL

You'll have fun with it once you learn how. I love all the possibilities there are in how to design a quilt block and quilt.

can someone tell me how to design a quilt on point in eq 7

The EQ7 user manual is your friend. Pages 70-71 gives you the instructions to making an On-Point quilt.

I am soooooo glad that you did this series. I was so completely lost that I had put EQ aside. More often than not I talked about the program than used it. Printed out the 23 lessons and am anxious to begin using it thanks to you.
Now, a question how about 5D quilt creator software? Do you use it?

Rhonda 02-14-2014 10:00 AM

I personally found the manual confusing and not in the right order. It has instructions but for a visual person like myself the pictures aren't helpful to me. I would hunt and hunt for what I had questions on and couldn't find it more often than not. So after hearing from others that they were intimidated by the program I wrote the lessons.

sorry I only know EQ5 6 and 7. and I haven't attempted some of the more complicated things in 7 yet. maybe some day.

Rhonda, I am so grateful to you for taking time to post your lessons! I am a visual learner, and your posts are so helpful! I am having fun designing a medallion quilt with a group on the block of the month forum. Never would have been able to do what I have done without your help! :)
Question.....every time I save something new in my sketchbook, I have to exit the program and go back into it in order to see my new block or colors or layout. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? The PC I am using with my EQ5 has windows Xp.....which I know is outdated, but such is life!

Thanks for any words of wisdom......
Jill

I'm glad they are helping you Jill. As far as I know if you go into your sketchbook you should be able to see the updates with out closing and reentering your EQ. My older computer has XP and that is what I started with on the EQ

No you shouldn't have to exit the program. Do you still see your worktable with your new block or whatever you are working on after you save? When you save what happens with your worktable? Why are you exiting and going back in? You should still see whatever you saved on your worktable. it may be a glitch in your EQ5 as it is over 20 yrs old and mine has glitches sometimes. without knowing exactly what you are doing when you save I'm not sure if it is something you are doing. I'd say probably not.
