This is for a flying geese unit. I know there are many ways to do this and this is just one more to add to your skill set.
It has an advantage of being made from just three squares to get two units. I made mine from five inch squares but any size will do as long as they are all the same size. I made this into a pdf file as I just could not get the pictures to upload. I am not sure why, as I have not had that problem before. If you just cannot get the PDF to download then pm me and I will send it to you in an e-mail. It is about seven megabites so if you are on slow dial up you will have a long wait. Enjoy.

Thank you -------- simple and easy (and who doesn't like simple and easy?).

dlong 05-26-2011 04:58 AM

Great idea. I've avoided the flying geese just because they look so time consuming and tedious. Just may try them now. Thanks.

Yooper32 05-26-2011 06:51 AM

Great idea. I've always wasted fabric doing the two squares of sky and then cutting the extra back piece off. PS, a BIG thank you.

gollytwo 05-26-2011 06:59 AM

I'm about to have to make a gazillion flying geese - and you have saved the day!

wendiq 05-26-2011 07:02 AM

The Tute is very clear.....I need pictures...LOL! But please instruct me on a very basic question.....What measurements do I use to arrive at certain sized geese blocks?

happymrs 05-26-2011 07:12 AM

The "Download" worked fine for me .... and I made a print of it. Really neat .... I have a border to do on a project and going to use this method, for sure. Thanks for posting it.

I don't know, math is not my strong point. you will just have to find a math person to figure it out or just dive into your scrap bin and expiriment....the ratio is I think 1.25 to one....so an 8" starter square would I believe come out to a 5"x10" goose....anyway it is a place to start.

TeresaPofWyoming 05-26-2011 08:19 AM

I've been looking at this pattern to try for my brother a lap rug for his wheel-chair. This one looks like it would be a whole lot easier than any of the other ones. Thank you so much!

Thank You Kellen. My math is not too swift either. Maybe I can find a chart???

Maggiem 05-26-2011 08:30 AM

Thank you so much! I can really see the possibilities of this method, and its advantages for those of us who don't always manage to sew a perfect 1/4 " seam. Your method is not wasteful, is flexible and forgiving... all really important!

Thank you!

kwilter 05-26-2011 10:10 AM

Thanks, Kellen42. I definitely will be trying this!

Katydid2 05-26-2011 10:31 AM

Hate to ask - but could you possibly revise and add in another picture of the square after you have cut it in half and after you have squared up? For us "dummies" out here :)

ButtermilkMama 05-26-2011 10:40 AM

am anxious to try these. They can be annoying at times.

ButtermilkMama 05-26-2011 10:42 AM

I would also like to see the square after you have cut it in half. Just so I know I'm doing it right.

usewgirl 05-26-2011 10:47 AM

Can't wait to try it. Thanks

gramabear 05-26-2011 11:49 AM
