Thanks for the tip!

er...I just get out my curly little binding foot, some strips or commercial binding, and whiz it on both sides at once!
Some charity quilt receivers ask that you double stitch the binding, because the quilts will be washed frequently. It is a fun place to practice decorative stitches in the second stitching. |
Thanks for the tip!

So do you mean to
1. lay fabric right side down and equally fold each side of the strip into the center (overlapping raw edges a bit?) and 2. then zigzag those raw edges together, 3. then press with the zigzagged raw edges in the center? then apply to quilt edge as usual? 4. so the zigzagged line will be on the outer binding edge? or am I way off base? Thanks for any time you can give to clarifying this as it sounds like a good idea. |

I was thinking it might be like this? 1.) take fabric and fold so wrong sides are together with fold on left side and raw edges matching on right side. 2.) sew a zigzag stitch starting at top right on the right side raw edges, barely catching on the far right side. 3) refold so right side is down and zig-zag stitch is in the center with right and left side meeting in the center ( basically both raw edges are in the center with the zigzag stitch holding it together ). 4) bring left side over right side and press into place. 5) place binding around quilt so that zigzag seam inside tape is facing away from quilt, pin then sew to quilt Does that make sense or sound right??? My machine is in the shop right now so I can't make a sample to take pictures of and post. |
Dang! I soooo need to see pictures...heavy sigh

Now I'm even more confused! Need pictures. I have the same problem with most descriptions, then when I see visually how it's done it all makes sense. Guess I am not alone though so I won't have a breakdown about it.

I don't mind wearing the dummy hat, but I sure would love an easier way to do bindings.......tapping foot, waiting for pics

I don't get it either. Any way close up photo's of each step could be posted?
