Black, white and red quilt
3 Attachment(s)
I showed a photo several days ago in Pictures forum and couldn't believe the response I got. Quite a few members asked for the pattern. As I explained I didn't have a pattern. I had seen a pic and just drew my own pattern.
I will post the photo of the blocks again then my drawings. I have put it here as well as at the end of the original post. |
Thanks! Looks complicated.
|

|
Whoo Hoo thanks bunches. Have one question, is the red square in the second block 5.5x7.5?

|
Thanks for giving us the block pattern. I love your quilt.
|
Thank you all for your kind words and I'd love to see all your quilts when they're done. Love QB and the people on it. Happy quilting.
|
Thanks so much for sharing it is a lovely quilt and I'd love to have a go at.
|
Love the quilt also; have been "collecting" black and white prints for several years. Your quilt give me
a starting point to bring them out and use them up! Thanks for sharing your information. Quilt is beautiful!!! |
Thanks for sharing, beautiful quilt. I keep finding new patterns to add to my ever growing stack.
|
Your quilt is absolutely stunning! How are you planning on quilting it, and bordering as well? Thank you for taking the time to post your pattern.
|
Oh my, that is one gorgeous quilt. Love the colours & the design. Tks for sharing.
|
For the 2nd block with the red centre & black corner triangles - could you also try making it with 4 half square triangles from the red & black fabric? Obviously you would not have the same design exactly as yours but it would achieve almost the same effect with the difference being the red centre would be not be quite the same as yours.
Love your quilt - just thought the half square triangles might be a simpler plan, for me, at least. Tk you for sharing this quilt - I think it presents such wonderful, creative ideas. |
Love your quilt and thanks for the block instructions.
|
Thank you for sharing..........this is just beautiful!!!1 I have lots of the black & white material already.

Yes you could do it with HST. As you said it will give it a different look. As long as you keep to the measurements. |
Thank-you for the block drawing it will provide inspiration for a baby quilt I have been asked to make.

As I see it, the finished blocks are 12", thus making a 48" square quilt? Thanks for sharing your directions. It's amazing how the block was created. Repetition makes it gorgeous. Would it look good as a 96" square quilt?

I'm not quite clear on your 2nd block. What is the measurement of the red square, as the corners are cut off? Sorry for being so dense, but I just couldn't figure that out. Your quilt is beautiful.
You start with a piece of red 7.5 x 5.5 then add the black corners. |

I don't see why it couldn't be 96" square. I only have a double bed(think you say twin). The photo is only the blocks laid out on my bed. I need to makes some borders. |

katesnanna..... just wondering.... is there a chance this is a copyright pattern? I am looking for ideas for our guild block of the month Lotto blocks for next year... This would be perfect! but I can't use it if it might be a printed pattern w/o getting permissions..... If not a copyright pattern, would you mind if i used it and gave you credit for posting instructions on the internet? Thanks.... this is such a great pattern... and it looks like no two seams butt up against each other when sewn into rows..... (really great when more than one person is making blocks). More often than not... the person who wins our lotto blocks turns them into one of our 2000+ comfort quilts we give to our community each year. The scrappier the better! |
