Circles

Someone posted a link a while back about how to prepare perfect circles for appliqué without burning your fingers. Since I needed a couple today I thought I would see how it works. You cut your fabric circle with a seam allowance on. You cut a thin cardboard circle of the exact size you want. You cut a square of aluminum foil and lay your fabric face down on the foil with the cardboard circle inside. Holding the cardboard circle in place, you gather up the foil and iron around the circle the edges well. Here are a couple of pictures of how they turned out.

And here is a picture after ironing and the circle is ready to appliqué down after I take out the cardboard. I will use this method again because it works!

WOW - great circle. Can you reuse the foil a lot?

I only needed a couple of circles but I imagine you could reuse the foil until you tear it. Mine is Reynolds heavy duty because that's what I use in the oven.

How clever and thank you for the pictures. Pictures help a lot to see how a technique is used.
