Just use one of the new-fangled bulbs the gov't is "forcing" on us LOL

Seriously - we put 3 LEDs in to replace HOT halogens over the kitchen sink. The LEDs cost $26 EACH - YIKES! - but are supposed to last for 27 years! And they use almost NO electricty compared to incandescent.

I even put CFL bulbs in the bath fixtures and in the ceiling fan in the sewing room this summer to help keep cool.

Sorry for the hijack! I love the lampshade!!!

Ohhh, just went back up for another peek and saw your avatar. Could you please overnight us that salmon? LOL
I went here for my 50th (at my request):

Love your State!

I thought about starting a fire also, but, if the filters are glued to a plain shade, then my quess, it couldn't catch fire.

NO way! That's adorable! Last year I got in an Ikea and bought a "blanket" that looks just like this. It's totally puckery and very stretchy and would probably not be what you'd grab if you actually needed a blanket but I love how it looks folded up at the bottom of the bed

I like ti, but the dusting of it gives me the creeps.

Several HGTV programs have made them to use as chandeliers. My house is way too dusty for these.

Wow - that is so cool! Thanks for sharing! I love it when people take the ordinary and turn it into the extraordinary.

I wanted to add that I too LOVE your avatar: you make the cutest little fishergirl out there! My brother and his wife live in Fairbanks and he did overnight everyone in our family some salmon for Christmas one year. It was terrific!

ssgramma, your requested place to visit is like heaven on earth. I have wanted to go to that place too. Maybe one of these days.
This was a good year for getting our Salmon in for the year. I smoked quite a lot too.
Ladies, lampshades are made out of flammable material. The idea is to put the filters on the outside of the lampshade where nothing can ignite it so I don't think fire would be the problem. Most lampshades have something on the outside of them for decoration, cloth, paper, plastic and they are all flammable. I thought about the dust too and figured I could take it outside and use one of those cans of compressed air to blow it off or even shake it lightly in a good wind storm :) It isn't any different than a cloth lampshade in that respect. How do you dust and clean your lampshades with cloth or paper on them now? Just a thought.

I will say it is different
