WOW What an idea! ! I will use this. Thanks.

stormatsea45 02-26-2011 09:05 AM

Question?? When you attach to the quilt, it seems to me that you will have to take more than a 1/4" seam to be able to get the 'lower points' caught in the seam, right? Or am I missing something? I have not tried this, so maybe this is the reason I am not seeing the last step right.

PATTIESPEARL 02-26-2011 09:08 AM

i wondered how to do this! Thank yyou so much!

Dianne1 02-26-2011 09:13 AM

Thank you, I have always thought there should be an easier way and you have shown me there is.

GramaLaura 02-26-2011 10:16 AM

Cool! Keeping this one!

Do you attach the points after you've quilted?

juneayerza 02-26-2011 06:38 PM

LeAnne, thank you very much for taking your time to do this wonderful tut. I'm looking forward to using it.

jitkaau 02-26-2011 08:13 PM

Many thanks. I have never attempted such things, but need to move from my comfort zone to add a bit of variety - will so scallops and prairie points this year.

City 02-26-2011 09:53 PM

Thank you - I have made prairie points and KNEW there had to be something easier than what I was doing ... I think there is a spendy tool out there but not in my budget. I am eager to give this a try.

Pickles 02-26-2011 11:07 PM

How do you add them to the edge of your quilt and still
use the binding ??

grammysews4u 02-26-2011 11:09 PM

lovely fabric

bonniebusybee 02-26-2011 11:56 PM

Great idea. Very good tutorial. Thanks!

gwanma 02-27-2011 12:44 AM

I wondered why you would do this thing called "prairie points"and looked up other threads with that subject...so now I know! I love this Board! I have learned so much. And you are so clever to have thought of this really neat method. Thanks so much for sharing.

I don't think you add a binding. You sew the points onto the front panel only and later turn under the batting and backing a quarter inch and blind stitch. If others have another way to do it, I'd be interested too. Also, I saw some samples where they didn't use the PP facing outward but facing inward instead, then put on the binding. Interesting effect.

Craftygirl 02-27-2011 04:19 AM

Thankyou. Have bookmarked this one for future refernce.

Cookie64 02-27-2011 07:31 AM

Great Job, Saved it to my patterns and reduced it down to 3 pages from 11 pages.

Thanks so much for sharing this tute...I've bookmarked it and planning my next quilt with prairie points.

jeaninmaine 02-27-2011 02:43 PM

Could you please tell me what kind of thread you use to sew these to the quilt. With all those layers of fabric, do you use cotton or cotton wrapped poly or what.

I love the technique, you did a wonderful job of showing how it was done. Thank you.

CarrieAnne 02-27-2011 03:47 PM

thanks!

Eileen 02-27-2011 06:31 PM

That is way cool! Wonderful tute. Thank you so much!

gramquilter2 02-28-2011 06:55 AM

Great tutorial, it will come in handy as I am making pillow cases with prairie points on them. Thanks.

You will use about an inch seam allowance. This still leaves plenty of point left. Sew them onto your quilt and then trim the extra seam allowance.

Thanks for the reply - I was noticing quite a bit also but figured it was for the convenience of having something to work with and hold onto while slip stitiching the backing fabric over the raw quilt edges!

stormatsea45 03-01-2011 08:59 AM

Thanks for answering my question about the seam allowance. That was what I figured, just didn't know how much of a seam allowance to use. Will have to try these. Thanks for the tute.

KiwiQuilter 03-05-2011 02:07 PM

Very cool - what an awesome (and efficient) way to do them :)

Thanks, never tried anything with prairie points before, but you have made the impossible seem easy. Great tutorial!

Always In Stitches 03-12-2011 01:16 PM

Oh man this is way to cool. I have done scrappy before but I never sewed them together first. That is really a great idea! Thanks for sharing this! I love the way it spaces them perfectly!

marmalade 04-24-2011 11:52 AM

Thank you so much for showing how to do this!
Just another reason why I love this board - so many generous people taking the time to educate us by example
(which is the easiest way for me to learn....)

normasews 04-24-2011 08:14 PM

Thank you so much for sharing. This is a fabulous way to make the prairie points.

Demshine 04-24-2011 08:33 PM

Great tutorial! Bookmarked for sure! Thank you.

lizzy 04-25-2011 01:30 PM
