I'm thinking a 12" block would be a good overall size, so what width strips would I cut to make the blades?

According to the pamphlet, for a 12" finished block they suggest using the 4" guide.

Can't wait to find some time to give this a try! I've got a box of vintage fabric that I've wanted to do something with like forever. Now I've got a project in mind.
