fast Star Tutorial --- Instruction File Added to Page 1, Under the 2d Photo

22 Attachment(s)
I am doing a step by step how to make a Fast Star - A Fast Star is exactly that---- fast. This is the first part for 24 small 4 diamond points. (words will be forthcoming)

The fast star is a uniquely Native American design, I think it was adapted form the Flying Swallows, since all the pieces are the same in a different arrangement.

Fabric requirements
A- 1/2 yard
B- 1/2 yard
C- 1 yard
D- 2 yards

a rotary cutter, ruler, seam ripper and 1/4" presser foot

Why do all your points and piecings seem so flat and crisp and perfect? If I LOOKED at those triangles they would ruffle up on the edges! What do you do???

SueSew 03-31-2011 06:44 AM

Oh I know - they don't get wonky because it's a FAST star!! LOL I must work too slow :(

Thanks - have a blessed day :D

Can not wait to see the finish!

grmamrtha1 03-31-2011 07:54 AM

My sister-in-law has a quilt on her bed that I just CANNOT find a pattern for. So I'm tracing the pieces and writing tips down as I trace. I'm sooooo hoping THIS is the pattern I've been looking for. I've got all the material I need, just need to have directions, as I'm not mechanically inclined to figure it out myself. I'm following your tute. Looking forward to your grand finale, but not very patient. Thanks for sharing. :) :)

SewExtremeSeams 03-31-2011 08:24 AM

Following your tutorial. Looks interesting so far! :-D

I just bookmarked this one.

Grandma58 03-31-2011 10:03 AM

Hopefully by the end of the night this will be pretty complete. All of you are gathering fabric together right?

kraftykimberly 03-31-2011 10:15 AM

Apparently I have moved from South Carolina to the state of confusion. I'm not getting it and I feel like I should since it seems the rest of you do. Im gonna chaulk it up to "newbi-ness" and continue to watch.

Grandma58 03-31-2011 10:23 AM

The words are still missing and this is only the first part. Once everything is in order you can make the quilt. The info will remain here.

Picking fabric? Follow along? I can take days to pick fabric, even longer. Sometimes fabric picks me. How many nights was my family waiting for me to come home and cook dinner but I couldn't decide what to buy at Joannes?!!
I'll bookmark the tutes and practice my triangles if you will give me a hint why yours are so straight and be jealous when the rest of the gang whip up quilts. LOL

I can't follow along with you if I don't know where to start! Tee-hee!!! LOL - I probably won't get past picking fabric and your tutorial will be complete!

If you have a pic of this pattern, it would be helpful to at least see what the EXPECTED outcome should be :?: :?:

cassiemae 03-31-2011 12:29 PM
