Is there a reason you need to miter the corners? This would go together much easier as blocks without the miters?

No, you don't need to miter the corners. You can do them with straight cuts, but I like the way that the mitered corners look better.

If I look at all the sizes of the pieces, I'm sure I could figure out the size, but what size will the finished block (and border) be? Thanks for the tute. What an interesting way to do a border.

Great instructions; loove this border and will use soon. Thanks so much!

If you can't open up a .docx file because you have an older version of WORD, you could try by downloading Microsoft's Office compatibility pack free. This should allow you to open those files when yours only opens .doc files.

Love your quilts, they are beautiful. I can't unzip the file for the tutorial. Is there another way you can send/post it? Thanks.

I agree....as we miter corners on quilts and miter the binding corners I think the mitering here adds a finished, polished look. Thanks for the tute!

I forgot to add one of the most important things!

The blocks are 8"x8" and the matching border is 8" wide. It can be adjusted by using narrower or wider strips.
