I did mine 10x10 and used warm n white adhesive sprayed to the top side and an iron on interfacing on the bottom, it worked well. The idea of thinsulate would be good too, or you could put the quilted potholder stuff, not sure what it is called, on one side to put hot pans in and fabric on the outside. I think the "warm tater" cotton would work too.

Instead of card board you could also cut Plastic Canvas sheets to fit

Those are beautiful, simple to make and have a million uses. They would be great ideas for teacher gifts. They could put them right on their desks to organize.

I'm gonna try these with some mismatched vinyl placemats I've been holding onto. Could work well with cold dishes that "sweat".

I've made these for several years and use the plastic canvas in the bottoms. They come in handy for lots of things. Also have made the baskets with the clothesline rope and strips of fabric.

Use the plastic casnvas instead. It doesn't have any acid like cardboard.

The original video said to use grosgrain ribbon. I only had regular ribbons on hand. I'm going to use fray-check on the ends to keep them from unraveling.

You can make any size box you want....and adjust the sides to what size suits you. I refolded my fat-quarters to make them fit nicely.

ENJOY!

I always thought making a box was very complicated. With your tut, it is very easy and very beautiful. Think I'll make some little ones for Christmas.

I made these with handles years ago as Easter baskets for my sons. They pack flat for putting away for the next year. Christmas fabrics will make great ones!

I saw that too! Thought it was a great idea. I was also thinking that you could make the sides higher by putting the ribbon more that 2" in from the sides. I plan on making some for my daughters apartment. She loves boxes and baskets.
