A GIFT for you for your encouragement this month!

2 Attachment(s)
This board has been uplifting and encouraging this month following my surgery that I wanted to give you all a gift! Over the last couple of days I have drawn out this block and an idea for a quilt. I was inspired by the happy and energetic colors in a picture I have long saved, hoping to some day make a quilt using this blue/yellow/orange/red colorway.

Instead I hope YOU will make this block or a quilt in these bright colors -- even if it's "outside your comfort zone"!! And then share her with all of us.

The next post will be the block.

Here is the block for you.
I think it is fairly self explanatory but if you have problems PM me or post here, as someone else may have the same question.

Thank you, friends!

Luv Quilts and Cats 08-25-2013 10:25 AM

This is going to be a very happy, cheerful quilt!!

DogHouseMom 08-25-2013 10:54 AM

Thanks Jan!! That's a great block!!

And BTW ... your input here on QB is always appreciated, which is why you received such warm wishes when you were down.

Love the picture ... when we were in Jamaica one of the shows we were treated to was Jamaican "folk" dancing/singing. The women wore dresses like the ones in the photo. The show was awesome if a little on the tawdry side (which didn't bother me a bit, it was fun!). Think "dirty dancing" to the next level. Then we learned that one of the liveliest and most suggestive of the dances was often done at funerals. I love Jamaica!!

Thank you jan. You are so kind to share your quilt blocks with us. I sure hope that you are on the mend now and that you are able to get back to your quilting soon. I took a picture in the Bahamas of a lady selling multi-colored coral that I had bought from. She wasn't as colorful as your ladies though.

Just goes to show that you can't keep a good woman down, or even slow her for very long. Thank you so much for your project. That photo is incredible.

Thank you Jan.. I am so glad you're feeling better and are able to get on the computer.. I know shoulder surgery is not fun, with a lot of physical therapy involved.. My sweet MIL had it but just didn't want to do the therapy.. That was not a good idea as it turned out. So painful or not, just do it. Then come back to that beautiful quilt you've planned.. I'm off to look in my stash and see what bright colors I have. Thank you again!

snel001 08-26-2013 07:08 AM

Love, love, love it Jan! Putting it on my bucket list! Hope you are having a great day in Virginia today.

MAK'58 08-26-2013 07:10 AM

Jan, you really are such a sweet and sharing person, with your knowledge, encouragement, and kind words, always. So happy that your recovery has turned out well, and again thank you for your gift, and sharing of your knowledge.

oldtnquiltinglady 08-26-2013 07:40 AM

Thank you, Jan. I have been pondering over a yellow quilt for a week or so, and if I can figure out how to get your pattern printed, I'll be using it for a quilt for my GGD's birthday, coming up soon. I'm going out to my sewing room right now, quitting the forum until tonight, and find all the fabric to get started.
