The flaps stay down because of the way the casing is made. I am going to flip up an edge and sew a button to it so that the inside of the pocket shows!

About 6 by 6 but you can change that with the size of the starting square.

When I first tried it I thought it was going to be very difficult. I was very surprised at how easy it was to do. Just remember to press it when you start!

Wonderfull instructions. When I made them several years ago I used 36" squares. It made for a larger bag. They are so neat

gmaybee 08-01-2011 03:13 PM

As I posted earlier, I made a large one like this at a workshop awhile back, but forgot how to make it. Thanks to your tute, I can make some more.

And no expensive pattern needed!

Looks really quick and easy! I'm definitely going to give this a try.
Like the suggestion of using home decor fabrics...I have lots of those to play with.
Can you hear my wheels a-turnin'?

And you can do it larger with those fabrics and have some great totes! And you can find all kinds of cording to use!

np3 thanks for this tutorial.
My grandma (age 103) is wanting me to make a bag for her to carry her room key and tissues in when she goes to meals at the assisted living place she is at and this will be perfect.

PS: Grandma sewed a lot and was always making pillows or jewelry bags for us granddaughters at Christmas. This will be perfect for her.
Thanks again.

Great bag and love the variation with the colors. I want to see if I can get the points on the flaps rounded a little and would like handles and maybe a button or velcro closure on one. Just need to find some time to get one done. Thanks for the great work on the tutorial. I always appreciate it when people get the details illustrated as I am also a visual learner. Ann in TN
