Adorable! I'm planning on making one for my DDIL for Christmas filling the pockets with earrings and bracelets and the center with a necklace. Thank you for your wonderful tute! The photos were extremely helpful!

Thanks again.

You could add velcro to one of the pockets on the outside to make it more secure for her. And change the size to be exactly what she needs. Enjoy!

Rounding the four corners would be easy, just use a glass or small plate for the pattern.

On some, I am adding buttons myself. And changing the cord to a regular handle would not be hard.

So, how did you stitch this without going through to the bottom layer?

Using your free arm is the easiest way. Since I didn't want to remove my sewing table for such a small area, I just pulled the bottom off to the side. Slide your hand inside and just pull the bottom back. There is enough room to do it without being too difficult. If you go much smaller, it will become a bit harder, kind of like working on doll clothes. But if you go bigger, it will be even easier.

Do you have a picture of one with strap and how do you put on a strap? Can it be a shoulder bag?

pseudoquilter 08-02-2011 03:07 PM

I love this however it would be great to have a YouTube video showing the process (I followed the directions to a point then lost it).
This bag is so cute!

I don't do YouTube. I only put thinks here. Sorry. If you let me know where you got lost, I can try to help you!

Love to hear that your Guild can use them. Using it for ours too!

THANK YOU! That is neat. Can't wait to try it.

PS not only is it a great idea, the tut is a very good explanation of what could be a very confusing process.

Hey I'm quoting myself!
I made Grandma's bag. Instead of sewing together 2 squares I used one large cloth napkin. I had picked up a package of 2 for $2 in the clearance at WalMart. Worked great. They were 19" square so just slightly larger than what np3 called for. I used some cording I had for the drawstring and sewed snaps and buttons on the pocket flaps. I think grandma will approve.
As I was finishing this up I remember years ago making a bag similar to this out of much larger square of fabric! I still have it and use it now and then. It is a lot like a messenger bag.
Thanks again np3!
