I have had several inquiries on how I explained making the potholder so I decided to try setting up a tutorial. I hope this works. If you have any further questions, just ask. Sometimes when I explain something, I'm not as clear as I should be. Thanks for looking.

DeniseP 07-20-2010 07:01 AM

Carol W 07-22-2010 04:55 AM

Thanks for the tute.

MeMeX8 07-22-2010 06:15 AM

That looks so easy, cant wait to try. I'm thinking Christmas fabrics. Wouldnt that be cute. Thanks for the great idea.

stichinluvr 07-22-2010 06:22 AM

I think it could easily be used for placemats.

Quilt4u 07-22-2010 06:50 AM

Thank you . That was very helpful.

3699quilter 07-22-2010 07:17 AM

Thanks - is this a potholder that you put you hand into the middle to pick up the hot dish? Or just one you fold in your hand?

Sheila Elaine 07-22-2010 02:19 PM

Thanks for the tute. I've made round glass holders, but hadn't thought to use them with Insul-brite for pot holders. Great idea.

El'sgrandma 07-22-2010 02:29 PM

Thanks for the tutorial. I love it

jlin52 07-22-2010 04:46 PM

I'm missing something - You have four pieces of material 8.5" square plus insulbrite - what size is the backing fabric?

stichinluvr 07-22-2010 05:09 PM

the same size as the 4 other squares. In this case I used 8.5". Your 6 squares (including Insulbrite) will all be the same size.

quiltinghere 07-22-2010 05:14 PM

That's really neat.

Who ever thought of this really thought outside the box.

jacie 07-22-2010 05:27 PM

Just fold it in your hand. Or at least that's what I do. If you were to put your hand inside, you'd want to turn the Insulbrite over. I hold the backside of the potholder so like the insulbrite against the hot dish.

galvestonangel 07-22-2010 08:02 PM

That is really clever, Thanks for the tut.

walen 07-22-2010 08:12 PM

THANK YOU!!!

Thanks for sharing and taking the time to take pictures. I have made a lot of coasters using this method. I cut five 4" or 5" squares of fabric and a 4" or 5" square of thin batting or the product you used for the coasters. A set of 4 coasters tied with a ribbon make nice, easy gifts.

Maggie_Sue 07-27-2010 06:32 PM

Great tutorial, thank you!

slbram17 07-28-2010 05:10 AM

You did a good job on your tutorial. Thanks.
Serita

NanaSue 07-28-2010 02:41 PM

I make casserole carriers so I made a set of potholders to match it. This was the fast potholder I ever made and it is nice and thick too. Thanks for the tutorial.

charcrfts 07-30-2010 06:42 AM

Thanks for the tute, I can't wait to make a few of these pot holders! We are celebrating DDIL's birthday Sun. and she has hinted that she needs new pot holders. Shhhhh don't tell her what she is getting!

tweetee 09-16-2010 02:50 PM

Great Tute, I made 4 coasters using this method last light and they are so easy! Took me all of an hour and that includes the cutting. I also added an applique in the centre to cover up the little hole and to hold all the layers together. They came out great.

Thanks stichinluvr

pennyj123 09-16-2010 05:52 PM

I have never seen this pattern before, thanks for sharing.
I will definitely make some for Christmas presents this year.

carolaug 09-22-2010 04:29 PM

I really like how you did this!!! These would make nice Christmas Gifts. Thank-you! www.thriftyideastoday.com

craftybear 09-22-2010 04:40 PM

thank you for the tutorial

maggie2122 10-08-2010 06:35 PM

These were easy peasy to make! Especially with a serger.
Make the blocks 3 1/2 or 4" and you have perfect little coasters or cozies for wine glasses!

The Quilt Gypsy 10-08-2010 08:40 PM

Thanks stichinluvr! I just made one using 8" flannel squares I already had cut. It took me less than ten minutes and it came out great! I will be making these and glass coozies for Christmas gifts!!

Thanks again <3,
Denise

harvsstuff 10-09-2010 06:33 AM

Thank you, I have made the coasters but never thought about the pot holders which I need. Quess what I'll be doing later today!
