I like this little tissue case because you can use regular tissues in it...I forget to buy the special little packages for the other tissue cases.
I hope I can explain this ok...may have to do 2 posts to get the pics in
First you need your main fabric, lining and medium weight interfacing each cut at 5 1/2" x 10 1/2"
Lay the interfacing down with the lining fabric right side up...fold into thirds....about 3 1/2" at each end toward the center...lay 2 pieces of 1/8th " or 1/4" ribbon across the lining near the folds...just a tad toward the center of the fold.
pin in place and then lay your main fabric wrong side up onto the lining and interfacing and stitch with 1/4" seam around leaving an opening at the center between the ribbons on one side...
clip the corners and turn and stitch the opening closed and press well

after you have pressed your case just fold tissues and slip them into the case under the pieces of ribbon ... I hope I have made this clear enough

Great tutorial! I don't always buy the small tissues either!

I recognize that material from the purse. Great job!

Judy_M 05-19-2010 01:54 PM

Great idea. My husband complains because the small tissue packs are too small for him.

Thanks for the tute.

Judy

I think they make super little gifties...anyone can use one..or handy to even just leave in your car...I like to make little things and have them on hand when I need a little gift.

MS quilter 05-21-2010 06:25 AM

GamaSusan 05-21-2010 02:10 PM

What a great, great idea! My mother is always rummaging with her tissues. I'm going to make her one this weekend!

stillwaters 05-21-2010 02:38 PM

Sue! This allergy sufferer thanks you from the bottom of her heart to the tip of her runny nose! Those little packages get costly, too! Love your idea!

CarrieAnne 05-21-2010 03:39 PM

GREAT IDEA!

This is great. I hate those little tissue cases. They're never the right size.

Hi Sue, Thanks for the tutorial. I made one of the small cases and then put my large (Puffs) in, but it was such a hasstle to get one out. I'm going to try this one.

Another thing....if you buy Puffs you don't have to re fold them to fit in the case like you do with Kleenex. They are layered in the box and not pop ups that have to be refolded.

wvdek 05-21-2010 09:41 PM

Isn't that interesting. Nice tut.

Ritzquilts 05-22-2010 10:10 AM

Like the fact you can use the big tissues...You always have great ideas

GladGrams 05-22-2010 12:57 PM

Great tutorial and so creative! I wonder if it would be possible to use strips of elastic under which to slip the tissues?

Yes to be honest I think the friend who showed me how to make these yrs and yrs ago, used 1/4" elastic but the ribbon works just as well so I'd say it is a matter of choice

ReeneeD 05-22-2010 03:57 PM

Great idea - can't wait to try it.

zz-pd 05-22-2010 04:52 PM

love your fabric, and thank you for doing this. God bless. Penny

I have concerns with using elastic - would it catch on the tissue?

You may be right about that. I was just thinking that it would be easier to put the tissues in and get them out again. Won't know until we try it.

Regardless, this is a GREAT idea for gift giving and I am going to share it with my quilting buddies. Am already thinking of how to jazz it up in different ways.

Don't you just love it when new ideas surface!

My friend always did hers with elastic and had no problems at all..but I just like the looks of the ribbon better so I tend to use the ribbon more....and how will you "jazz it up" ???
