Very nice! Makes it look easy!

Am I seeing this correctly? Did you not have any set-in seams because you split the background fabric? The first Lone Star I made would have been appropriate for Madonna's bra in her "pointy boob" video. The second was very frustrating with more unsewing than sewing but more successful. However, I hated the set-in seam part of it. If I am understanding what you did, then I might actually try it again. Could you give more detail about the background pieces as they seem to be of various size and shapes. How do you cut them and how do you determine the size, shape? Thanks for sharing.

I also have drawn a picture.....as you can see, no set in seams.there are always 2 triangles going on top (green line) and 2 underneat (blue line).set in the trinagles by using the numbers in right order. The pink line shows where to place the ruler. This is just an option, you can cut 1/4 inch away of the starpiece or even go a few inches away....depends really the size you like to have.

Been wanting to make a lone star for a long time and bought a plastic template for individual cutouts. This is far faster. Looking forward to this one.

You did a nice job on the Lone Star pattern and giving us the tutorial. For some reason I can only save the download and when I pull it up, I don't see any icon for printing from Microsoft. Since I am not working any more, I have lost the updates on Microsoft.

2manyprojects 01-15-2011 03:17 PM

It can't be "that" simple can it?!!!

TexasBlueBonnet 01-15-2011 04:35 PM

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. My Mom made several lone star and broken star quilts. She offered to make one for me, but I never got around to picking out the fabric and now she is gone. Maybe I'll tackle one using this pattern. You make it look simple!

annette1952 01-15-2011 06:28 PM

fidgety 01-15-2011 06:40 PM

busygranny 01-15-2011 07:31 PM

What size is the material cut? Or am I missing something here?

MiMi in Lutz 01-15-2011 08:06 PM

FANTASTIC!!!! I also copied this into Word. Quilters: notice at the beginning of the tute, that she has instructions. You need to click 'Download' to get them. That is where the measurements are. Looks like fun. Thank you so much for posting this tutorial :)

nonnie60 01-15-2011 08:28 PM

busygranny 01-15-2011 08:34 PM

You should be able to either right or left click on it and it should open. OR you may have pop-ups blocked. If you do, you should see a window above the top of the page telling you that pop-ups are blocked. Click that and you will have option to allow the pop up. I sure hope this helps. If not, let me know and if you PM me to give me your email address, I can send it to you. By the way, do you have Microsoft Word on your computer....that could be the problem.

Alondra 01-15-2011 08:58 PM

Thank you, Ladyinred - you make it sound so easy - your tutorial gives me the courage to try it. The drawing is great, too.
