Very nice tutorial, and I love the idea of doubling up the layers.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I haven't been able, as a new quilter/sewer, to understand some of the potholder
patterns. This one I actually understand, and will try to make! By the way, Merry Christmas!

Awesome tut Moonrise, thanks for sharing your tut.

SueDor 03-26-2012 01:53 AM

Thanks for the tute!

Terri5 03-26-2012 07:42 AM

This is really a neat idea. So many of my potholders are not thick enough and I still sometimes get burned. This are perfect and no burning of hands. The tute was perfect to understand, You did a great job! Thanks so Much :~)

maviskw 12-20-2016 05:42 AM

Those are great.
I wouldn't top-stitch the small one until it is layered onto the large one. You only need to go around it once.

moonrise 12-20-2016 06:44 AM

Yes, it can be done that way if you like. :)

sunrise450 12-20-2016 08:44 AM

Thanks for the tute Moonrise. I need to get back to sewing and quilting and this will do the job.

mac 12-20-2016 11:34 AM

Thanks for that wonderful tutorial. I'm going to make a few of these. Happy Holidays.

RosaSharon 12-21-2016 12:09 AM

Thank you for this tut. Great idea! I have everything I need on hand, and that second one, for the layer is easier to do than what I have been doing; measuring, cutting, ironing, and sewing on binding!

LavenderBlue 12-21-2016 08:37 PM

I don't know how I missed this wonderful tute at the time but want to thank you for sharing! Going to start making these for Christmas 2017!

Teddybear Lady 12-22-2016 12:53 AM

Thank you for showing how to make these. I struggle sometimes with the edges of the potholder. This will take care of those places that somehow don't get sewn and ravel out.

hamchips88 12-22-2016 09:42 AM

thank you for sharing this easy way to make pot holders

Sue1765 12-22-2016 02:24 PM

Thanks for this wonderful tutorial.

deedum 12-29-2016 04:54 AM

This is right up my alley! I see myself making these and stacking up for Christmas gifts for next year! What great birthday gifts. Thanks for the tutorial.

quiltingnewf 12-29-2016 08:19 AM

I would like to use this method for mug rugs/coasters. Would you do it without batting, with 4 layers of material would they be thick enough? or just use one piece of batting? I feel like 2 layers of batting would make coasters too fluffy. Please let me know what you think..

I love your tute. I have a hard time finding hot pads that match the colors in my kitchen. I also have a large fabric stash. I will definitely make some of these.
