Great insight. I too get stuck, frustrated and say " they will never see this crossover!" Thanks

cherylmae 12-22-2015 12:21 AM

Boy this will help alot of us. Thank You for your insight.

lynnie 12-31-2015 12:32 PM

I can't stipple to save my life, but thanks to you, you made it easier. I will try this your way.

Plee1053 02-27-2016 07:37 PM

Wow! Thanks! Just took a FMQ Class and still didn't get the stippling or the circles or most of it! Anyway, this makes sooooo much sense to me and I will be trying it very soon!

zozee 02-27-2016 08:25 PM

Thanks so much. I can see this helping me a lot.

QuiltnLady1 02-27-2016 08:53 PM

Great idea -- I am a bit too left brained for stippling too, but I think this might work for me as well. Thanks much.

KLTQuilts 03-03-2016 02:45 PM

Thank you so much Lady!!! Duh . . . I guess it's that left-brainy thing :D I can stipple on "small areas - like mug rugs and wall hangings", but go bonkers on the bigger things. Now, let's see how much difference this will make . . . I think I can, I think I can, and I will conquer!!

Rahnigirl 03-21-2016 06:44 AM

I hate this part of quilting with a passion but WOW this is going to help me enormously. I too get lost when meandering. Thanks for the simple but effective tip. Two thumbs up for this idea thanks.

RosMadeMe 04-05-2016 05:37 AM

Just read this, it's so obvious yet it is genius! Thank you for sharing.

Visser 08-27-2016 05:06 AM

I like this idea. Can you tell me how far down you would draw your first line. The total
length of your quilt? I am a newbie.

Yes, I would draw the first line over the entire quilt top so I'd have a path to follow all the way.

QuiltnNan 08-31-2016 06:04 AM

thanks for this tut. i've struggled with stiippling, too. i may be able to do better with this method

grammasharon 10-01-2016 10:26 AM

I do pot holders for a senior center and am going to try your method. Will try using an iron off marker. Think this will make a great improvement in my production. Also thinking I will try doing a double size piece and then cut to size and bind. Thanks for this handy tutorial.

kimmer123 01-07-2017 10:38 AM

Brilliant-- I used chalk and away I went... no more stuck spots-- thanks ever so much! cheers from -30 Canada-- is a stitching day -- not even remotely interested in our usual snow machine tours on the weekends-- nope nope nope--- even if it has to be scrappy pot holders-- inside for me-- and meandering nowwwww

b.zang 01-07-2017 10:42 AM

That pictures goes miles in making it clear as can be. Thank you!!

linmid 07-11-2017 06:10 AM

Thank you so much. I to have trouble with meandering.

urssewsweet 07-21-2017 01:08 PM

I get stuck in the middle. It's so sad:(. But now, I can see a way out:thumbup:. Thank you so much for sharing. I thought I was going to be stipple free for life

Awesome! Meandering and Me just never worked out correctly but I think this will help a great deal!

Isn't it strange how we differ in our skill set? Meandering has always come naturally to me but I have difficulty in feathers. Now if someone could teach me that I would be thrilled.

I haven't signed on to this forum in several years, but when I saw the image posted in Pinterest, I thought, "Brilliant!" THANK YOU!!!

sewingsuz 02-24-2018 09:57 PM

Thanks Wendy, I just tried this a couple days ago and it is much better to have a line to follow, I still need a lot of practice. I am in Cottonwood AZ. Suzanne

Mousie 02-25-2018 09:10 AM

awesome! it's funny the little ideas that we get and we don't share them
bc we think somebody else has done them.
Thank you for sharing this! :)

azwendyg 02-26-2018 05:04 AM

Thanks, Mousie! This "discovery" made so much difference in my stippling/meandering that I just HAD to share!

KwiltyKahy 02-26-2018 06:30 AM

I'm glad somebody plucked this out of the archives. I thought I was the only one who had trouble meandering. Thanks, Wendy.

Ditto. This is brilliant! Thank you so much!

Grazy Granny 01-08-2019 07:03 AM

I'm impressed! You mastered feathers before meandering?! I've been quilting for a few years and feathering is still a challenge for me. I'm not too bad at meandering but I'm also impressed with your idea for drawing a "snake" line. I've got a quilt sandwich waiting and I'm going to use your technique to finish it. Thank you!

QuiltnNan 01-08-2019 07:33 AM

I saw a reference to your tutorial on FB yesterday... they posted your picture of the technique

azwendyg 01-09-2019 10:14 AM

I'm interested to know where/who posted it, but I am happy to share. I've seen it on Pinterest numerous times too.

This technique is brilliant! I can't wait to try it out. I always get stuck in areas & can't get out. Thank you, thank you for this discovery!

Darcyshannon 01-11-2019 03:06 PM

I look forward to practicing. Thanks

Evelynquilts 01-13-2019 05:45 AM

Thank you for the tut...

Jazz 02-16-2019 12:01 PM

Thank. You. So. Much! This is really going to help me!

QuiltBaer 02-17-2019 07:58 AM

Great idea! And thanks for the drawing.

sJens 02-17-2019 08:37 AM

Thanks this looks like a method I can now accomplish.

Nanscan 02-19-2019 04:39 AM

Thank you so much for sharing your idea!!

hcarpanini 02-19-2019 04:43 AM

Make sure that you leave little hills and valleys at the bottom of the row. That way the next row will nest into the previous and you won't see a line.

coopah 02-19-2019 04:50 AM

Brilliant! Thanks for sharing your technique. I only have done outline quilting on very small pieces, because I couldn't wrap my head around the stippling, either! So thank you! I'll try it!

KathyE 04-25-2019 10:43 AM

I'm so glad I read this. I struggle with this too. And I really want to be able to do it. So now I am anxious to practice. Thank you!

Lilrain 04-28-2019 05:31 PM

Thank you! I am going to try that.

lindaschipper 05-29-2019 04:21 AM

When stippling and meandering I have to keep telling myself "round corners" or just "round" to avoid a pointed spot or loop in my quilting...just another tip!
