Quilted Travel Bag

Travel Bag Tute.

I enjoy making quilted bags. This is by far the largest one to date. I am not really proficient with doing tutorials yet (still working on this skill) and I’m sure I’ve missed some steps. Please PM me if you have any questions. This bag is very basic. I made it for a specific purpose, but it could be modified to suit any needs. I rarely use a pattern and I never make the same style of bag twice (attention deficit?). I have been bitten by the free motion quilting bug and will use any excuse to quilt something.
Someone asked how I put the text into the photos and the answer is that I use Microsoft Paint for that. It comes standard with Microsoft Office and is very user friendly. Anyway, here is the tute.

Nice tute. May have to try this one. Especially liked the bottom using the thin plywood. Seems like the foam core board doesn't hold up as well when you use a bag lots of stuff.

Some really practical tips here too - I especially like how you constructed the straps, and also how you bound the main body pieces, making construction so simple. Great job!

Dilyn, thanks for the great tutorial. Could you please post a picture of the bag standing up as finished? and the dimensions when finished? Love your method !

Great Tute Dilyn, and a great bag. Even I could make this one.

Sorry, I forgot to post a pic of finished bag here! It is also posted in the 'Picture' forum.

What a great nice big bag. I've been looking for a pattern for a big bag to use as a overnight bag while traveling via the airplanes. I think this would be perfect.
