Leslee 01-02-2009 08:49 AM

 Use one block as the template for the next! Never thought of that. Time to head for the sewing room and have some fun! Thanks, Patrice.

bettyt 01-02-2009 08:59 AM

Yes this is it . The only thing different is she would cut the "x" after sewing all around the fabric.

sewjoyce 01-02-2009 09:36 AM

Wow -- Thanks! You made it look sew easy

nellie 01-02-2009 11:21 AM

for you to see who has the
most "bookmarked" entries.
I have sssssooooooooo
many...

patricej 01-06-2009 04:19 PM

i must confess ... your question confuses me. i must reply thusly:

huh? :?

racnquilter 01-23-2009 07:21 AM

Using the completed block to cut next block is a genius idea!! This would make it very easy to customize the size to what you wanted it to be.

BellaBoo 01-25-2009 04:47 PM

I'm kinda confused. How would you cut the x after sewing all around? I mean do you draw a line and use scissors and cut just the one layer very straight on the lines :?:

gcathie 01-25-2009 04:53 PM

Awesome Thanks for the replacement....I had this one bookmarked....

BellaBoo 01-25-2009 05:05 PM

I guess I need the answer to how to do this:

The only thing different is she would cut the "x" after sewing all around the fabric.

Bellaboo, on the original tute you lay the two identical square right sides together, then stitched 1/4" completely around the two...then you lift up the top layer very carefully, and snip into the centre of the X and cut along the X just up to the stitch line this creates the next layer...

Patrice made it easier, by simply cutting the cross Before realigning all the pieces back into a square on top and stitching around the edge :D

Does that make any more sense??? :D

BellaBoo 02-01-2009 09:30 AM

Thanks, yes that way was what I was thinking but I kept thinking maybe there is a magic way I don't know about. :D

key4unc 02-22-2009 05:32 AM

Great technique. Also love the pic of the kitty. She needs a tiny little quilt to sleep under.

patricej 02-22-2009 07:36 AM

then the dogs would each want one. where would it end?

key4unc 02-22-2009 07:58 AM

Too funny.

LOL.. at the rate of being a buttinski, I think I understand what she's asking and if I'm not completely off base, the answer would be that bookmarked pages are a function of your computer and therefore the Mod cannot "see" them, so that statistic is not available to them.

This technique is amazing...this coming from a dedicate hand stitcher...when I get the urge to do a machine quilt, I think this is the one I'll do... Great job of teaching!!

Moncia 05-02-2009 01:03 AM

I thank for instruction. She is very readable.

Moncia 09-10-2009 05:42 AM

Thank you so mutch!

Lady Bug 10-14-2009 03:31 PM

I like this!

Love2Craft 03-31-2010 06:48 AM

I love this look but what does the whole pattern look like? I did a search and can't find a picture of the whole project.

bettyd 05-17-2010 09:12 AM

Could you send a photo of the finished quilt??? Thanks

patricej 05-17-2010 09:24 AM

i never did a pattern for a whole quilt. the look would depend on how many times you went around the center; whether you made the quilt entirely from that block; etc.

watch this space, though. when i receive my most recent order of fabs, i'll be adding to similar blocks already started. i don't see why i couldn't use them to continue the tutorial through to a whole top.

sewjoyce 05-17-2010 02:19 PM

Can't wait!

harley 05-21-2010 03:35 AM

I just tried your method for making Square in a Square blocks and LOVE it! It's so fast and easy. And you can sit and chain sew a whole bunch at a time and press them when you are done. Thank you so much!

berryberry 07-18-2010 12:43 PM

I can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing. I'll be keeping a watch out for future lessons. Do you teach at a local LQS?
