My quilt seems to have created abit of a stir, so for everyone who requested a tute....Here it is!!

I have created it in PDF format so that everyone can download it easily, as I have used lots of pictures!!

Have fun, and don't forget to post pictures when you try it :D :D :D

Same file, just compressed a bit for those on dial-up. (added by PatriceJ)

thank's SO much Izy - I'm sorry I nagged you but it was worth it, it looks great. I'll definitely give it a go - it'll be good machine practice which is something I don't do often!

Obviously, I'll be expected to post the results, so please feel free to nag me right back!!!

Izy 02-04-2009 11:17 AM

Izy, you asked about the snow, well its all gone for now but more forcast for tomorrow and Friday, thankfully the 20 ins promised on Tuesday did not arrive.
Thank you once again for taking the trouble of showing us how to make this pattern.
Katherine

Alaskan lady 02-04-2009 04:23 PM

Great job Izy! Was able to save it to my computer..no problem. Will be fun to take some of my D9P and add the twist and see what happens. Thanks for taking your time to share the pattern.

SaraSewing 02-04-2009 05:01 PM

Thanx. You did a nice job of teaching your talents.

Go ahead and save the file. But even better is to get a flash drive for all your patterns, quilt photos, etc. Then even if your computer takes a dive, you'll have it handy!!!

Izy 02-05-2009 01:29 AM

I am so pleased everyone seems to be able to understand it...I know how much trouble I have...I NEED lots of visuals :D

Great idea about the flash drive....the way my hard drive is full I think I am going to invest in an external drive just for all my quilting stuff  :D

Thanks Patrice for compressing the file more than I managed.....need to read up abit more lol...think I only compressed one picture tee hee!!!! :D

patricej 02-05-2009 02:41 AM

i'm pretty sure the only reason i was able to shrink the file size by that much is because i happen to have the complete Adobe Acrobat program. it lets me do things i can't do with regular pdf file conversion programs.

it's waaaaaaaay expensive, so i wouldn't recommend it to anybody who won't use the heck out of all its features.

Echo}}}}}}}}}}} I know that I WILL do this one. Thanks to this board I have fallen in love with the D9P. This is where I learned about it and have really become attached to it. There are so many possibilities. I haven't had (or taken) the time to experiment with it, but I certainly will try this one. Thanks for the tute.

kd124 02-05-2009 10:11 AM

Izy, thank you so much for the tute. It is easy to follow and I am glad you showed other ways to arrange the blocks. It will be a while before I can try it, as my to do list (finish what's started) is long, but it will be the first after I get all my other sewing done (not just quilts). :-) :-) :-)

johnette 02-05-2009 04:37 PM

thanks for the tute, Izzy. Looks like great fun.

Memalinda 02-05-2009 05:08 PM

Thanks Izy for sharing. I will post a picture when I complete this quilt.

sewaholic 02-05-2009 05:31 PM

Thanks Izy - You certainly got this up quickly. How's the clean-up going?

Izy 02-05-2009 06:07 PM

Thanks everyone.....glad you seem to find this tute of interest :D

Sewaholic...check the other thread I made about the flood :(

mpeters1200 02-05-2009 06:28 PM

Izy...

I couldn't figure in how your quilt was a D9P...it sure didn't look like any I had ever seen. I just couldn't figure it out. Thanks so much for this tute. Now I "get it". I'm not a big fan of HST as they are my nemesis, but I'm glad this complex quilt is easier to make than it looks...

And yours sure is beautiful!

Melissa

Izy 02-05-2009 06:33 PM

Melissa...I know what you mean about HST...I think everyone can have a hard time with them...one thing about this is you do have some room for error....when you draw the diagonal seam allowances, if you take a smaller seam allowance at this stage, say 3/16th's, after you have made the HST you will have a little extra to square up...check out my pictures you will see that is what I have actually measured at is .5cm (my ruler is metric!!) :D

k3n 02-06-2009 01:23 AM

Sorry to be thick - what's an HST?

K x

Izy 02-06-2009 01:31 AM

K....do I sound like I know alot...only cause I read so much info on here lol!!

It stands for Half square triangle.. two triangles when sewn together form a square, then there is QST, which stands for quarter square triangles..4 triangles forming a square when sewn together.. :D
