My mistake. I didn't read the previous messages. I have a Bernina Aurora 430 and both #5 and #10 feet; however, they are both identical, one foot is not longer on either and the metal bar in the middle is exactly the same on each. The only differene is that the #5 has a grove on the bottom of the foot. What am I not getting?

Deb, my machine doesn't have that metal extention so it must only work for particular machines, right?
It is a special foot that you need to purchase. It is specifically called "Stitch in the Ditch" foot.

wow, I love that tutorial. I use mine for machine sewing down bindings. I just set the needle a little to the right and let that little lip ride right along the edge of the binding, and it is perfect!

On the edge of the mark....toward the center or toward the edge of the fabric?

    ?

Yes, I used to feel that way as well and my top points always seemed to be a bit 'wonky' (I picked that term up from Sulabug), even when using pencil to mark. Just could not seem to get them straight. For some reason, that little extension keeps me right on the diagonal. I also have learned (as have many others), that the second square must be absolutely on the edge as even a little bit will make a huge difference in the top point.

Thanks for the info I am certainly going to try on a practice piece so when I do a quilt using flying geese I will know what I am doing. Thanks again
