    I think you are right. I remember seeing one at Granmamas. the end with out leggs can but up to the seat of the rocker.

    Hard to tell without something next to it so we can give it some scale. The foot rest looks like a good bet though. My 1st thought was a recipe holder.

    I believe it is a foot rest for in front of a chair or sofa. I think you have it turned upside down in fist picture. It is kind of a balancing thing I believe. I have not seen one in over 20 years so forget how it works.
