Morning everyone. My loving wife has been shown a Singer 15NL Sphinx with hand crank set-up. It is absolutely beautiful to me, and I've wanted a hand crank model for some time. I've looked around some, and have learned there are reproductions of this machine out there. How do I identify a reproduction example? What would be the fair price on an original in fair condition? DW is encouraging me to try to buy it, but I'm hesitant without more information. Please offer me guidance. Thanks, Don.

I am interested in this information too. I have one that my sister just gave me to sell for her. And I have no idea what they go for. On Bonnie Hunter's blog the other day, she showed and talked about a woman who had one of these at a workshop.... I think reading between the lines, that Bonnie has bought one...but can't be sure.

As for telling the difference between an original and a repro, go with the serial number and check Singer's website.

Hi Charlee and thanks so much. I tried the serial number site but the picture of the serial number given has a different format I think from those listed. This makes me go hmmmmm...

When I checked my serial number I was thought one of the letters was a 6 but it was really a G... Once I figured that out, I was good to look up the date...So it may be that one of your letters or numbers are worn.

NL-K 3232090 on an aluminum-looking plate riveted under the machine. The NL-K is paint or ink, the numbers are stamped. Sure would make a wonderful Father's Day gift from my DW if it's real. Don
