Expensive organizing... not enough bang for the buck!

My dh and I went to "The Container Store" yesterday and I decided that I wanted to try an over the door organizer to keep some of the food that has piled up in my kitchen corner over the last few months. So, since this organizer was on a 25% off sale, I thought I would give it a try. By the time I checked out, I had picked out seven baskets, the railing, and the door holders for a total of around $95.00. So, I got busy. I was disappointed at how little really does fit on these shelves. At least my counter got a little less cluttered, but I am still wondering if it was worth the cost. Guess it was... since I didn't have to pay full price.

For the last five years, there has been a shoe organizer hanging on the back door. I think the people that lived here before us used it to keep their shoes when they came in from the garage. We used it to store a few items, but it wasn't really used efficiently. I would love to buy a railing and do this in a few places for my sewing equipment. I might down the road. I really like how easy it is to install and how little space it takes up.
I am sure that over time, I will be so thankful I spent the money and have this organizer... especially since it is easy to move if I decide I don't like it where it is at. It would be great in a closet too.

long ago my hubby put some rubber maid shelves on each end of our pantry. the pantry actually was were the washer and dryer could go but we put them downstairs. he put wooden shelves in and the rubber maid ones. they hold all our canned goods nicely.
