A sweet and much younger friend of mine had a double mastectomy today, and I fear for her safety because she has the gene that makes her particularly vulnerable to the most aggressive form of breast cancer. The reason I want to mention this here is that I just got a message from another of my book club members sending this link, and I thought it was worth passing along to other women: http://www.cleaningforareason.org/

This organization provides free once a month house cleaning services to women who are undergoing chemotherapy. It does not matter what kind of cancer. As far as I know they are in the US only.

Oh hon, I'm so sorry for your friend and wish her the best. Someone else mentioned this service but it's worth repeating.
What a wonderful service for people in need. And just think how much it would lift someone's spirits!

Oops! Didn't think to check if it was previously posted. I'm new here, and I'm not too sure I'd know how to find it. I hope someone benefits from the extra mention of it.

Rose, this board is so large that it never hurts to mention something more than once, don't worry! :)

I agree. We're getting new members every day, so we really should repeat this every month or so.

Thanks for the encouraging words. This afternoon, one of our book club members told us about making heart shaped pillows that mastectomy patients can use to help keep their arms from bumping tender areas during the healing process, so of course that's my next quilting project, putting all else aside. I found a pattern online http://www.gfwcflorida.org/Projects/...ow_project.htm I think I could use PFP to make a quick design for it.

She just had her breast removed not to long ago and has done the chemo and is now doing the radiation. 31 years old second time around. She has 2 young sons and a great husband.
