I totally understand. We go on long camping vacations, 1 or 2 weeks at a time. I love doing it, but the last time I was gone for 2 weeks I found myself just dying to do some sewing! I ended up buying a Featherweight for those times I have electricity and a Singer 99 hand crank for those times when I don't have electricity! Now I take one or both with me even for short weekends. No matter what the trip is, there are usually a few days of dreary weather. Those are the perfect times for sewing. I've made 2 quilt tops this summer while camping. Both were very simple, but fun.

When we camp at one particular state park, I have met two women who always sew and piece and quilt while their husbands fish. They have their machines all set up on a picnic table, bring a small iron and ironing board, and sew away. I always check in to see what they are working on. They both work full time, so make time to sew when htye can.

I've thought of that also. When I reach my loss limit, I go back to the room and read. Could just as easily sew. Tomorrow is the 8 hour bus ride to Houston Quilt Show and am taking a King Size Quilt that needs hand sewn binding!

That's a shame about Laughlin not having any quilt shops. If you take any side trips to Vegas you can hit the shops there.

I'm sure you'll have fun cutting your fabric and getting organized anyway.

I really need to take a trip down south. I haven't been there in years.
