I know we have several on the board. Has anyone heard from Panda or our other friends yet?

Tabmonsters is OK. I've talked to her several times. Gaby4v has posted several times, too.

And I've entered the world of double posts? What the heck?

Panda is a friend of mine. I will e-mail her today, but I don't think she is in any danger, as she lives near me.
Right now the situation in the sticken area is in the hands of the emergency teams and the military forces. While we in the Tokyo area worry about trains, rolling blackouts, lack of grocery items, and aftershocks; we are not in immediate danger. Maybe after they have completed search and rescue, accounted for most of the missing, decided how to house the survivors; we might talk about some effort we could make to show the people of northern Japan that we care! Until that time, a donation to the Red Cross (or any other reliable charity) is the most appropriate thing you can do.

Panda was the only one that immediately came to mind. I am happy that you and she are both ok as well as the 3rd mentioned here. Thank goodness for that.

It's hard enough to look at the pictures and video, it's incredibly difficult to imagine how hard it is for those living it. They are in our thoughts and prayers, as are all affected by this.

Tokyo is still in some danger isn't it. winds carrying some radiation? my friend lives in Yokohama.
do you have enough water and food in stores around you? I surely hope so. I worry about the babies.
