Yesterday afteroon when I was out with the dogs I saw him fly out of a tree and fly above the woods behind my house. It is definitely a broad-winged hawk. What a beauty!!! Their wingspan is amazing and so graceful and silent. Don't get to see that too often.

Owls are predators, so if you have a small dog or kitty, better watch them. I saw on the news where an owl attacked a chihuahua and he was on a leash with his owner.

How about that!! I am originally from Michigan and we had an Eagle, a Wayne, and some more I forget. I love it out here.

Ohhhhhhh...you are so correct!! Several years ago I was behind my house in the evening with my chihuahua and she was going "potty". I was standing right next to her and this owl swooped down and tried to get her. I started screaming and waving my arms and he swooped down 4 times trying to get my dog!! Scared the "poopy" out of me!! Hubby was standing on our front porch talking to a friend and came running out back as he heard me screaming. What a persistant preditor!! The owl...not my hubby...lol Now when my hubby takes out the dogs at night I tell him ya can't just stand on the porch and let them walk out in the yard by their self. Chihuahuas get all humped up going potty and look like a bunny and the owls try to get them. They have sharp talons and would hurt the dog bad even trying to get them. Corry
