Question about cat beds made out of yarn
Hi All, I made quite a few cat beds for a shelter near me, some like mini quilts (cotton and batting) and some with polar fleece and batting. I have several skeins of polyester yarn (Bernat Blanket yarn) and was wondering if it would be a good idea to crochet a large square for a cat mat....or do you think that yarn would not be good because of the kitties' nails? Thank you for your thoughts.

If untrimmed, a cat's nail might snag on one of those mats...my concern would be if the snag pulled the yarn (I think it would depend how tightly the piece is made?) once it snagged. Cats do tend to like to chew/potentially swallow strings...so as a caution I'd ask the shelter what they think. Really awesome of you to want to help them! I worked with a few rescues who loved the cotton/polar fleece mini-quilts they got as donations...very special!

We I got two kittens last fall part of the package that they came with included knit blankets. They each got one and they were about 18 inches square. Their toe nails were not an issue.
