Default Question about cooler neck things?

What is the product that is used in these? When you put them in water, they swell up and you can put them in refrigerator to get cold. You wear them on your neck for when the heat in summer is so hot that it helps to cool you down. I want to make some of these for my daughter who lives in Phoenix. Thanks so much.

The third link is a place to purchase the filler..It even has a crafts link with directions to make them, as well as guides on how much filler to use...good luck!

FYI I bought my water crystals at Lowes in the garden section. I've made several and still have lots of crystals leftover.
Don't be tempted to put in more than suggested (I seem to remember 2 tsp) because they really swell and too much would burst the seams.

I bought some jell things at True Value ... thought the colored ones were pretty ... but they bled the color all over.

Get the regular ones, clear. And only 1/4-1/2 tsp is required. We make them and send them to a unit in Afghanistan, and just a little goes a looooonnnnggg way!! :-)

I love my neck wraps. I couldn't work in the garden without them in the summer. I keep mine hydrated and in a plastic bag underneath the meat keeper in the refrigerator so are always REALLY cold and ready to use. They also come in handy when the power goes out in the summer!
