    buahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa! !!!!!!!!

    rotf,lmbo! egads, elroy.

i'm sure they are a treasure, somehow, to the person who owns them--but i don't see the inherent value unless there is some terrific story and fabulous provenance connected. perhaps they've watched one episode of "antiques roadshow" too many.

They should put in an auction.
problem is, once an antique is refinished, most of them lose any real value they might have had. they are lovely as old furniture--but original finish is a high percentage of worth in anything old. any restoration has to be cautious, and any replacement of parts has to be perfect.

i'm sure the owner thinks they have a real gem, here--any buyer, though, would have to be convinced with evidence, even in a trade for a sewing machine. from here, it looks pretty near worthless.

I just looked these up and they are 1830-1850. In fair condition,1200. For two piece parlor set. Refinished and ready for sale, no provenance or signature on frame,3500. With signature, up to $10,000.00. If I were younger, they would have looked great in my 150+ yr old house.
