My one GD's name had to grow on me, but once it grew on me she is a Gemma all the way. At first I called her 'baby girl'.

Son: Christopher Lee (my husband's name is Lee) - wouldn't do it again -- too many Chris' out there both boys and girls.
Daughter: Courtney Marie (lots of Courtneys now, but not when we named her)
Grandsons: Micah Christopher - named after his uncle - not his dad and ..... are you ready for this one????
Draven Wyatt Gene. LOTS of trouble getting used to that one! In fact - we call him DJ (the J comes from his last name). His mom calls him DJ as often as she calls him Draven so I guess we were as tactful as we had hoped to be!

Look at this name: Analyssa (Ah-na-lisa) A coworker is naming her child this - due in April. When I look at it I see "anal", but hope I'm just weird. It's a beautiful name, but ... Ana-Lyssa, Annalyssa?

I'm a schoolteacher and think I've seen every kind of name possible. It's really hard when you can't tell boy/girl from the name or when you can't tell the pronunciation from the spelling. The current trend of giving girls traditional boys names is so hard on the boys! Doesn't seem to phase the girls. I've gotten used to the girl Taylors, but now there are Carsons and Masons - girls.

Fiona is a very popular name in Ireland and Scotland and there are certainly very many women with that name who are not green and overweight.

Without wanting to offend anyone, from the names people have mentioned here, I would say that you could do much worse!

Either way, you just have to make peace with it.

When I hear the name Luke I always think of a basset hound I knew by that name. Bailey, a black Lab that my cousins had. Morgan, a stuffed dog that belonged to my sister. Sometimes a little amnesia would be a good thing!

As for a GD with a name you don't like, Bo Peep is a good nickname for a while.
