Can't believe there are 40 pages so far. I'm an RN--retired after 30 years, over 23 in Labor and Delivery.

Currently and for the past 7 years, I have taught 7th grade communication arts. Prior to that, I was out of the classroom for 23 years as I worked in the corporate world, was a parent educator for 10 years and raised my two daughter. Thought I better get back into the classroom to start working towards retirement. :)

I have been medically retired for the past 16 years. I hurt my back lifting a patient doing home health care. I graduated nursing school in 1980 and began working at a hospital in labor/delivery/post partum and nursery right out of school. That was my very favorite job. Due to a complicated pregnancy I had to quit. Later went on to work in nursing homes and finally home health care. Loved, loved, loved being a nurse and was heart broken and crushed when I could no longer do it. But, my health problems are what they are. So I live with my disabilities and do as much as I can. I do not live in the past. Due to back problems I wore out my knee. Had it replaced 3 years ago. Year after replacement I had to have surgery to try to break up scar tissue. Didn't work. 10 days later I fell and broke leg just above the replacement. Didn't go to doc for 10 days. When I went it was a really really bad break. So more surgery and now knee no longer bends. Lot's of pain and limitation. So, I took up quilting and love it. I'm not great at it but, I'm learning. Keeps me sane. Thanks to you all for all the help and postings to help one another. Means so much to me that there are so many that are willing to share their years of experience.

I am a retired elementary teacher. I've been retired 3 years now and absolutely love every minute of it. That's when I learned to quilt; never had time before.

Taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades for 28 years and loved every minute of it.
