Hi My Name is Tammy from Artemas, Pennsylvania, USA
Hi, My name is Tammy. I grew looking up to my paternal grandmother ,Iva Kate's, quilting abilities. She was amazing. I inherited a number of her quilt tops and have never mustered the nerve to work on them for fear of messing them up. I feel that I am now in a position to focus on them and try to do them justice.
My grandmother quilted for many reasons. Keeping the family warm was the main reason and the love of making something beautiful out of old clothes was the second. More importantly, I think it helped her keep herself busy as her large family grew up and left the nest.
My grandfather lived to be 100 years and 6 months and remained at home the entire time. He was a great man. He described my grandmother as his companion and best friend in life during a breakfast prayer that really touched me. My grandmother was 100% there for her family. Preparing meals (including those mile high biscuits and poor man's gravy), making clothes, quilting, attending church, farming and raising children. She was amazing and I miss her dearly.
I want to learn all I can learn about quilting so that I can take care of what she stitched together with love.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. What a wonderful legacy you have to work with. If you have a quilt shop near by that offers quilting lessons, that is a plus. There are youtube videos that can help you also. I recommend starting a small project of your own first like a table runner or placemat and practice on them.
