    Hello.
My name is Leigh, I am 28. My son will be starting school this year and I thought quilting would be a great way to keep busy.

I am new to quilting. So new in fact that I don't own a thing but a sewing machine. I stumbled upon this group and thought how wonderful it would be to learn from women who have been at this for a while. Maybe some one would have some tips on the best things to buy. For a beginner with a limited budget I mean.

My family does civil war re enacting so I would love to be able to make a quilt for us to use in camp. But mostly I have the quilting bug very bad. I can't describe how much I want to do this. More than I've ever wanted to do anything. Is that odd? I know that sounds strange.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting some new people, and possibly making friends.
    Nice to meet you all,
    Leigh :)

Welcome and glad you decided to join us! The best place to begin is sewing squares together to make something real easy and fast. It will all come together so don't get discouraged!

    welcome to our group!
I love this forum, people are friendly and very helpful.

My first quilt was a mystery quilt, Our group did this for a first project,
when you see the pix you will see how different it looks for something that is exactly the same.

Hi Leigh and welcome to the board. I am just beginning at quilting too. Lots of helpful quilters here. A wonderful place to learn from.

    Purplemem,
Those quilts are awsome. I would never have guessed that all those quilts were the same pattern. Amazing and great quilts!

Welcome to the board! I started to teach myself to quilt in 06, sooo still fairly new, well...(I do still use that as an excuse for some of the stupid mistakeds and unsewing that I have to do) I do understand the "wanting to learn to do this so badly" feeling...it happended to me too.
Now I am obessed to the point of almost unhealthy
