    Well, let me say welcome to the board and take a shot at this question. When I find a design I like I trace it on thin paper. I saw where some one suggested to punch the design with a pin. I use my sewing machine with no thread. I let my machine punch the holes to show me the design and it makes it easier to remove the paper later. Then I just hand stitch through the paper, carefully and with a good tension in my stitching. I am working on one now that I have used this "Mary method". It works for me.Good sewing.
