Little clipper trimmers will do the same. Price a lot less.

Yep, I inherited my dh's old pair of beard trimmers to rip seams. I dont use them much since I have cut fabric several times. I don't like to do that.

OOPs didn't mean it to sound so snarky. But if you like this idea and I do use it some especially on long straight seams, you can get it cheaper and with no shipping at WM or other local big box store/drugstore.

It is a great little tool - mine just died though and so I think I will replace it with the trimmer mentioned above. It didn't live very long - so that was disappointing but I had heard that was a concern. Maybe it is one of those things that needs to be used on a regular basis, i would go months without turning it on since I only used it for longer seams.

I got the "quick ripper" cheap on ebay and it has a replaceable AA battery.

Did you see if yours has a door to push open to replace the battery?

I have one of those, and would hate to be without it. It works perfectly!
