I looked all through the pictures I have on my computer and do not have one to show you. I would have to dig it out of storage! But, back in 1998, the method I had of making picture quilts was the iron-on transfer paper. We were not yet doing all that much printing directly on fabric. I had made a quilt for my son that won an award and for the label I had printed some, appliqued some, painted some, etc. and I wanted it to last. I tried spraying it with clear paint even. But, what I finally ended up doing was just thinning some mod podge and covering the label with it.

I don't know the recipe but would say it was about like gammieju mentioned. It was thin enough to brush on, but not thick enough to be gloppy. I let it dry a good long while and sewed it to the back of the quilt.

The quilt was washed many times after that with no problems. A few years ago, I removed the label, wrote the story of the quilt and made a collage of the label, story and award letter and a few pictures and framed it for my son.

Mod Podge is not permanent fabric glue as gammieju recommends. And I did not even remember that I had done that until reading these posts. We all got started using Bubble Jet Set or similar things and never looked back.

Now, just for fun, I want to try these things in this post!!
