    Smile Introducing... Canvas Fabrics!

No, they're not canvas. They're cotton quilting fabrics, and they are BY a company called Canvas.

Canvas is a new division of Benartex. And apparently they will be specializing in novelty fabrics, because their head designer *used* to be the lead designer at Timeless Treasures.

You can see the fabrics on Checker Distributor's website here:
    http://www.checkerdist.com/products/fabrics/?v=C127&a=1

(I figured if there's a new fabric company out there, you would all want to know about it! )

The sports cars (under the Man Cave category) are great! I also like the B&W & yellow (under Lemon Tree category).

Good grief. Why on earth would they choose a name like that? It's like a new hot dog brand called Burger! As someone who already buys canvas in many forms and types...stretched gallery canvas, rolled canvas, canvas floorcloths, and home dec canvas...I don't think adding a 'new' canvas to the mix is something I need to do.

The name can get confusing ... I remember when Blank first started to be come a "known" company .... it was tough to get my brain the except that Blank textiles actually had nice prints.

I remember a block contest where you had to use 50% Blank fabric. I thought that would be the dullest quilt around! Until I realized the company name was Blank. And yes, they do have nice fabrics.

Actually, I received a mini-catalog in the mail last week, with pictures of these new fabrics. Canvas fabrics. And I thought, gee, too bad these are canvas, 'cause otherwise I'd order them! And then I read the descriptions that the manufacturer wrote, and got to the part of "We're sewing boxer shorts ..." and though, ok, I know guys like to "be tough" but ... canvas boxer shorts? Wouldn't that be a little... irritating?

So I called Benartex and asked if these were really canvas or if they were quilting cottons. I was delighted to find out they were actually quilting cottons. And I suggested that they might want to do a little bit of clarification in their advertising, to head off more of this confusion.
