I like the way you framed it with your dark border.
That quilt just looks like it was made to cuddle under. And, your quilting is a great addition. I can just see a little one or a bored oldster really having a brightened day with all the different texture-like parts of it. Not too bright at all! <wave>

greetings, ms grace, the 'string' quilt is beautiful. i love making these. sometimes i foundation piece using a specific size square cut from muslin (10-13" sq) , press diagonally (giving me a straight line to start). then just get comfortable, reach into my scrap hamper, and off on another adventure. i always make sure black in included. then usually finish with border of about 3-4" black outer border and black binding. you can also use an inner border and end up with a larger quilt. every one i have made is different but ends up 'walking out the door when one of the kids or friends come by'. i will attach photo when i can figure it out

Beautiful and I can just imagine all the fun that you and your sister had with one sewing and the pinning ahead. Such a long long seam. Congrats!

thumbup: G-R-R-R-E-A-T. At first when I read 1 1/2" strips I was intimidated. I'll do the 1 1/2 after I do my 2 1/2 strip charity quilt. I'll post as I get them started and then progress will follow.
