Ms. Grace, Oh, how beautiful that is. I've been cutting strips for quilts for years and always have a few leftover from every project and save them in plastic bags according to color -- brown, green, red, turquoise, blue, yellow, orange, purple, etc. Sometimes the scraps get combined to do a controlled scrap strip quilt, and the bag remains filled with leftovers from that. They'd be perfect for making the kind of masterpiece you just did, but you have a real way with color nobody can beat. I'd just be happy to get a surface for the cutest charity quilt ever.

Thanks a ton for an amazingly wonderful, delightful idea!

Yes, this is a great idea and it has given me some ideas--I have a huge bag of 1.5" strips (think 120 liters--approx. 30 gallons) and if I made this big piece of fabric and then cut them up into squares or rectangles--great idea.

But I wanted to ask the OP--what length of fabric did you start with? How many inches of strips? The 2.5" jelly roll pattern says to start with 1600" of strips---did you adjust it because they were only 1.5"?

This is almost like a jelly roll race quilt but using scraps. Love it .

Great job! I have made one of these out of a jelly roll and had so much fun with it. I think a bright yellow or red border would be great. I know it's bright, but somehow yellow border seems right.
