Default 55% Linen 45% Cotton fabric

My DD loves the Buffalo Lodge tree skirt, table runner and placemats pattern by Krista Moser

    https://www.kristamoser.com/buffalo-lodg

I have purchased the pattern, the new 60 degree diamond mini ruler and the exact fabrics used in her pattern - one of which is a linen/cotton blend whereas all the rest are 100% cotton.

Question: Should I pre-wash all fabrics knowing that my DD will wash these often? I'm concerned about inconsistent shrinkage and think I should but thought I'd ask the experts here on the QB

Most shrinkage occurs with that first wash. I haven't used a linen threaded cloth in awhile, but I have used woven ikats and things like that with a variety of fibers.

So yes, I'd wash it first. Be very aware of it drying! Most likely you will want to pounce on it before it is fully dried and if not... well, you might have to get used to a texture.

What a neat project. I love it all too. Your daughter is so lucky! I would pre-wash and I probably wouldn't want to, but I think you will be happy in the end that you did.

    I would pre-wash.

Update: I had emailed the pattern designer, Krista Moser, who promptly responded with the suggestion to pre-wash and to never dry after the pattern is complete - just dry flat and iron. She was so sweet, prompt and helpful that I had to share that with the QB folks. So nice when pattern designers are responsive and helpful.

I had already washed, ironed, cut out and begun piecing because I had figured if I wasn't happy with the linen/cotton blend that I'd just replace it but all is well. Now on to the fun part of piecing this cute project together!
