YOu also need to make sure that you use the whole mat. Flip it front to back, top to bottom. You can use it almost right up to the edge. remember, the BLADE of the die needs to be covered, not the entire piece of foam. You wear the mat out more quickly by repeatedly cutting in the same spot over and over so try and reposition it every time you make a cut
