    Default Alphabet Block Pattern

Hi, I'm hoping someone may be of help. I am looking to sew letter blocks (not appliqué). I have found one good pattern through McCall quilting that shows all the pieces and their measurements but the size is still too big. The blocks turn out 6X10-1/2. I need my blocks to be closer to 4 wide at most. Height I have greater flexibility on. Does anyone know where I might find what I'm looking for or is anyone on here good are scaling down the pattern I found?

Office supply houses and probably Walmart or Target have letter stencils. If you use graph paper, you can probably graph them out yourself. I looked in EQ and found their letters were set for 7" each. That's not real easy to size down.

Thank you. I've never paper pieced before but it seems like it might be a better method than standard sewing. The 4 inch pattern suggested was perfect size but ideally I'm looking for a design less detailed. It's for a child. So far still haven't found the perfect pattern but thank you for the ideas. If I can find a free one online I'll pick up the book suggested as those might be perfect.

I did a Google search for free alphabet templates, here are a few options:

    https://www.freebiefindingmom.com/pr...bet-templates/
    http://www.first-school.ws/theme/alphabetp1.htm
    http://www.dltk-teach.com/alphabuddies/marcysabcs.htm

If you a pattern that you like you can try to scan and reduce/increase the size that you want. Or if you have access to Microsoft Word, you can print your own, you will just need to play with the sizes.

    Welcome to the Quilting Board!

You can use draft paper and make your own. Or find some and resize with your printer.
